Behav - abate
#1
A 65 year old adult involved in road traffic accident and brought to emergency department by ambulance crew.He was comatous at arrival with neuropuppilary evidence of subdural hematoma and early phase of herniation. No family member was around and quick search for possible 'living will' was futile.Urgent endotracheal intubation and surgical intervention is needed but how should the issue of consent resolved?
a)search for health care proxy
b)decide on substituted judgment approach by using one of the ambulance crew members
c)Treat him by his best interest standard
d)try to contact the family so that they can arrive and give a consent
e)involve the ethical committee
