if i rank a program at number 5 lets say and I want to see if i get into my top 4 first, if the top four dont rank me high enough will i automatically get into my #5 choice if they rank me...im confused. So like if one program ranks me high enough to get in and i rank them lets say last i will still be able to go there considering if the other programs i rank higher do not rank me..am i correct ?> please

You got it right...ranking should always be made according to your preferences and NOT according on how you expect a particular program to rank you.
