very good idea and may just be the only thing that unlocks a door for residency for you... Did one when i didn't match last year and had good LOR's and the interviewers just seem to like it instead of being idle the whole year. Good luck!

it is totally legal to do an externship on B1/B2 .........i have done one and got letters officially from the hospital.....................
