there are quite a few websites that can help u write a good PS (google them)..here are some tips that I remember from my days of writing my PS

Dont use cliches (everyone hates to hear that u wanted to get into medicine since u were a 5 year old running amok in ur shorts)

Dont go over the top - promote urself but dont be ostentatious

Dont mention scores directly (if u have good ones, hint at them though)

Personalize it with an anecdotal experience, share ur war stories

If u have some weakness in ur application make sure u address that in a manner that doesnt ignore it but dont harp on it too much either (u dont want them to remember only that aspect of ur personal statement)

Spend time over it, reread it 2-3 days after uve written it and see if there's something ud rather not say.

Have ur personal read over by at least 1-2 people who can critique it constructively

SPELL CHECK, SPELL CHECK, SPELL CHECK (be obsessive about it and also about the grammar)
