Does the tuning fork tocuhes the skin? or few cm off the skin? how do you say AC>BC or vise versa? does it mean the vibration you hear when you place the tuning fork in the ear is greater than when it is place behind the ear?

the fork has to touch skin
for the rinner u first place it on pt's mastoid and when he says that he is no longer feel the vibration u move the fork to his ear
if he can hear the sound it means AC>BC

now i guess i know, the tuning fork does not have to touch the skin cause once you touch it, the vibration will stop. am i right? so it will just be a few cm off the skin.
