Nicky I disagree...what ever one's league is if one is the best in it then he/she can never be a loser and is always a winner... I know personally of 2 internists, one ER surgeon working in a family based practice and believe me if they were not making money in a family based practice they would never be there...so if what you say is true then I guess all the above specialities must be losers but if you see their way of living you would be greatly surprised that they are making more than a few cardiologists that I know about..This is only one practice but if you go into many suburbs through out the cities of USA you will see that FM people are quite established....
By the way each of them took more than 750,000 last year after paying off all liabilities and taxes...and the bonuses and cash patient charges have not been included in the mentioned amount. I don't think that they are losers and especially after the figures i do not think it is a loser's speciality..

Family Medicine speciality is for smart physicians who are great in primary care. It's nothing to with loosers, lossers are people who don't know what they want or don't have the courage to proceed and to pursue their dream.
FM physicians earn arounf 150, 000$ a year. They have a nice life style of 9 to 5. They have weekends off. They don't have calles, and they have a great life, because they can also devote time and focus on their family life. Residency in Family medicine is not as competetive as IM to get, although it is helpfull to have step 3 at time of application and preffered to to have US clinical experience, which is very easy to get by volunteering (observership) in a private physician office who might be even a friend of your family, somebody who you know. Working in such an office each day only a few hours, you can get a nice letter of recommendation from a US FM dr. Good Luck and don't listen to people who even use such a word as "loosers" to bring people down with their negative energy. This forum is for supporting each other and not for bringing people down! |
