Option D (Interleukin-12 (IL-12)) is correct. IL-12 is produced by myeloid cells (macrophage and dendritic cells) and initiates and then helps maintain Th1 responses and the production of interferon-gamma, which stimulates more production of IL-12, a cycle. Antibodies to IL-12 help break the cycle for a cell-mediated inflammatory disease such as Crohn™s disease.
