Could I apply to the step 3 exam prior to be ECFMG licensed? My ECFMG certificate is in process of credential verification and it might take some time for it. I would appreciate your answer, good luck to all.

to further expand on LN's question do you know how long it takes for ECFMG certificate/credential verification?
I'm hoping to write step 3 in december 2004 to meet up with the 2005 match. I have step 2 cs to do in september (believing that all will go well)

Credential verification can be started anytime while you're waiting for your CS. The actual time taken depends on how fast your med school responds by sending in the transcript verified. The ECFMG takes an additional 4 weeks on an average to assess those verified transcripts and that's it.
So it your credentials are verifieds at the time your CS results become available, then you get the ecfmg certificate right away.
