Post Menopausal female/Age , New breast mass,Irregular margins, with family H/o---> High Risk Case Breast cancer until proven otherwise. Go for E)// Mammography, USG, Needle Bx wont change need for Bx. Ct scan, if nodes +ve or a tissue dignosis made thru a Bx.

negative needle Bx is non diagnostic and open Bx is still necessary.

in kapln sx it says that any woman suspected of breast ca has a core biopsy AFTER mammogram and then if that is negative then do incisional biopsy. on pg 39 of 2002 book. i noticed alot of answers to questions u guys post are opposite of what is in kaplan. what do we answer on the real exam if there are so many conflicting views on basic medical conditions?

I think one should be able to extract the subtle difference in questioning, when 'most appropriate management' and 'most appropriate next step' is asked. If the question had asked for the next step, I might go for mammogram, but when management is asked for, I'd prefer to go for something definite.
