A. Between the flexor carpi ulnaris and the flexor digitorum profundus
B. Behind the lateral epicondyle and between the two heads of the supinator
C. Behind the medial epicondyle and between the two heads of the flexor carpi ulnaris

The correct answer is E. The nerve in question is the median nerve, which enters the forearm between the two heads of the pronator teres muscle. The median nerve then traverses the forearm deeply in the arm between the flexor digitorum superficialis and the flexor digitorum profundum. At the wrist, the nerve rises very superficially and passes under the retinaculum. Immediately after the retinaculum, it gives rise to a branch to the thenar muscles. Either the median nerve or this branch can easily be injured by a knife wound to the palm, and will cause denervation atrophy of the thenar muscles at the root of the thumb.
Choice A describes the location of the ulnar nerve at the wrist.
Choice B describes the location of the radial nerve and its posterior interosseous branch near the elbow.
Choice C describes the location of the ulnar nerve at the elbow.
Choice D describes the location of the median nerve at the wrist.
