I worked with some OB/GYN at a university hospital. They think the next big thing is for family medicine doctors to do fellowship in OB. OB/GYN docs are so overwelmed with work, that now they want to have FM doctors doing 12 hours shift in OB, kind of like hospitalist. The other big thing now is sports medicine. You can become team's doctor and go to all there games in case someone gets hurt. It good extra money and if you are into the sport you can enjoy the games also. There are many fellowships for FM. They are only 1 more year. Anything you do you will be successfull. good luck to everyone who matched in FM!

as many of you know, fellowship after FM residency is not many. sports medicine is competetive and you also should have interest in treating ortho patients. OB might be good especially for women FM physician but there are very less avialblity and very much competetive to get in. I guess FM physician has to stick with primary care. As some one other thread said FM's doctors looked down by ohter internist and specialists.
