*contraindicated in elderly >80 yrs
*contraindiated in liver failure pts
*causes metabolic acidosis
*used in type 2 D.M pt who is obessed
*does not cause hypoglycemia

used in PCOS, helps ovelation , anti-androgenic(very mild)

contraindicated in renal insufficiency, should be stopped before doing contrast x-ray

only drug causing weight loss.. all others including insulin lead to wt gain
