some heartening news. - nyc

yesterday an amg told me something i didn't know...it really made me feel better.....so,i just wanna share with u all....(maybe,u all already know...but,still)
He said that ,the US govt. gives every hospital $200,000/yr per resident to train them...Out of which, the hospital gives around $50,000/yr to the resident as the salary & the rest goes to the hospital......So,it is in their favor to hire us & fill all their positions & not leave any positions unfilled.

So,the bottom line is....they really WANT to hire us....cuz,it's a mutual gain.
Does it make anyone feel better? It did make me,though....Smile

It's much more complicated then that.
There direct / indirect goverment payments
On the average every resident training subsidized at rate of $80K a year.

For AMGs, the reimbursement is usually twice as much as for IMG.

However, the number of (subsidized) resident positions ( all years - PGY1,2,3 etc) is currently frozen at 98000 (1996 yearlevels), so hospitals can't hire more residents and make more money.
