huumm,
I am thinking that to form peptic ulcer, there are two causes: one is to decrease the mucus protection, like deficiency of PGE, another is to increase the acidity or the gastric amount, which can be caused by deficieny of GIP. If only PGE deficiency, there can be ulcer formation, but not b/c the increase the acidity, but decrease the mucus resistance to acid.
