why cytokines have overlapping function?

small variation in dna sequence------ genomic pleomorphism-------(alleles)

explain plz

cytokines differ from each other in their dna sequences by very few nucleotides. that is genetic polymorphism. leading to overlapping of functions, target receptors.
cytokine receptors also show polymorphism,

oh, so very few difference in dna sequence might lead to the same function?
what is ur source plz

i guessed it

it is due to shared subunit between cytokines receptors. for example if the receptors is dimeric or has 2 chain alpha and beta. if the beta chain is shared by other receptors than different cytokines activate the first receptor .
