Hi.. can anyone give info about cedar rapids FM program Iowa

They have a recent change of pd. The previous pd who worked there for 18 years has quit, and many faculty left with him(good ones). The program was once unstable(they were not sure if they wanted to continue the residency) and for a while the 1st and 2nd yr residents were looking for new jobs for their residency. They have not been able to hire enough faculty to continue the program at this point yet, though the intrim pd is working hard to do so(the quality of new faculty is in doubt because the rush hiring process and the location).

The reason the pd quit is b/c the 2 hosptials the program serves don't care about resident education, they just want resident work as HMO docs but won't provide time and training for resident education. there has been a forever battle b/t the pd and ceo in the hospitals, to a point that that the pd decided to quit.

The flood of the century also hit cedar rapids this summer, flooded the main training hosptial, and it has not totally recovered yet. So many FM don't want to go there for a faculty position, b/c we don't know when another flood is going to happen.

So as this time of the game, cedar rapids is still participating the match, but this status can change any time if the program can't find enough faculty to support the program. Make sure you bring up this point when you see the residents and pd.
