#1
Hi all,

I am writing to ask for my fiance, who has scores of 75 on step 1 , 80 on step 2 and 78 on step 3( second attempt) ,US citizen, with USCE of 1 year, he has participated in the match this year and applied to several programs, but till now there is no interview. couple of places put him on hold, but no definite interview till now. Can anyone advise what can to done to improve chances of interview? Should we call the programs ? does it help? Usually we get only a voice message...how can I help my fiance? He has tried for Im/PEDs/FM in several programs...but no response till now. ANy advice? please help !

I know you are in a tough situation but all you can do right now is to keep on trying to call and email programs. Maybe something turns up.

What kind of USCE does he have for 1 year? and were all his LOR`s from that USCE?

Calling up programs does help occasionally- especially if they have any interview cancellations- one of my friends ended up getting an interview this way and eventually also ended up matching at that same place... so u never know. Some program coordinators might not be very happy if you call them, but then that's a risk you have to take in this situation. Also if you haven't heard from any program, don't hesitate to email them a reminder that you've applied to their program and that you're really interested in their program.

ur fiance is in similar situation to me except that i am not citizen

1. dont just apply to every program in every speciality coz they do look at what u have done

2. do a 3-6 month observership in one speciality with 3 strong US lors

These things would definitely get iv calls but then, match is no gaurantee.. now its very competitive and if u dont have gr8 scores than its difficult.

When you go to your interviews, do well, and eventually feel they liked you, tell them that your fiance has also applied to this year's Match and that it'd just be perfect for the two of you, if you were to both join their program. This actually worked for my friend and his fiancee. Good luck!
