people say that the people who get earlier interviews are more likely to match with a program?

so is it true or not?

This is true only for prematches. But for the match, it does not matter.

early interviews are good for prematches and late interviews are good for matches.

There is nothing like that. Programs rank their applicants considering all the pros and cons of every applicants.

Those people are simply bullshitting you. People who schedule their interview with a program early in the season are more likely to pre-match with that program, whereas people who schedule their interview with a program late in the season stand a better chance at matching with that program. On the other hand, applicants who are invited to interview at a given program early in the season compared to those who receive the an invitation from the same program later on in the season have an equal probability of matching with that program. It doesn't matter when you receive your invitation. All that matters is what you make out of your interview. Regardless of the timing, if a program invites you for an interview, it means that they are willing to seriously consider you for residency at their program. Good luck!
