Doxycycline effect??? - brown911
#1
I came across a question where it was asking what did Doxycycline prevent from occuring in patients with Lyme Dz?

I forgot all the answer choices , but 3 of them were:

- Carditis
- Blindness
- arthritis,
- etc.....

I"m not sure what Doxy actually prevents in those with Lyme Dz....always thought it just treated the disease overall. Any help is appreciated!

well even if untreated arthritis is usually self limited in lymes disease. i would like to know all the choices of at hand. Secondary manifestation of lymes disease includes myopericardidtis so i would put my money on carditis with the choices u have set forth.

Are you sure of that question ? you mean that doxycycline only prevents one manifestation while there will be still 4 other manifestations expected to occur?

ABs are most effective in helping cure Lyme disease when they are taken early in the course of d.
Early trt w ABs can help prevent future problems in the joints (arthritis), the heart (carditis), or the CNS.
