hey guys need ur help, m little confused as to what shud be the first inv in case of a suuspected fibrocystic disease in
30 year old women
40 year old women

fibrocystic breast disease1.-30 yr old.ultrasonography is useful in distinguishing cystic from solid masses.
1st step is aspiration of cyst.

if fuid is clear-discard it.
if bloody sent it for cytological examination t0 r/0 carcinoma.

if the re is no residual mass after aspiration-pt reexamined after 4-6 weeks .

a mass that persists requires-mamography and excision.

2.for all women more then 35 yr old with a palpable breast mass-mammography is done.

go for ASPIRATION as it can easily distinguish whether a mass is solid or cystic.

ultrasonography is used in pts less then 35 yrs old when the mass detected on screening mammography cannot be felt or when the pt declines aspiration.
