A 65 years old patient - torsades

is admitted to the hospital for severe pnmonia and lung abcess . he was given IV pencillin for 7 days. he respond well and symtoms got better. he than complained of pain in mouth while eating . on examination doctor observed numerous whitish and yellowish plaques on his tongue especially on lateral margins.doctor started with a new drug but after ingestion of the drug pt devloped flushing and itching. his BP droped to 90/50. what new drug was given??

oral thrush---->Amphotericn B or Capsofungin??

yes it is oral thrush caused by candida albican. the pt is given amphotercin B . it is one of the few drugs that causes release of histamine causing flushing ,, hypotension etc. the other drugs that cause release of histmine and similar symptoms r vancomycin,, morphine....
