heard that usually they kick off the FMG after 1st yr of surgical residency,,, is it so??

Kick off the FMG after the first year???......I don't think so!
An acquaintance of mine has got into Presbytarian NY Cornell campus.
So surgery is not impossible to get.....in fact this year when the list of unmatched positions were released it was surprising to see so many empty slots in Surgery.

Did you attend Kaplan London in 1999?

FMGs usually get only prelim spots for pgy-1... i guess the best way is to compare the number of 1st year residents with the number of 5th year residents... if there is a big gap they most likely kick out some people. i know one guy who was pgy 3 prelim and didn't get his contract renewed. anyway good luck and don't worry about getting a pgy 1 spot (prelim) in surgery- there are plenty and AMGs are not really interested in it.
