Don't be confused. It goes to the volunteer experience portion of the CV

Your Observership and Externship goes under "Experience" tab in MyERAS.

This what "Experience" tab reads:

"(Include Clinical and Teaching experience as work experiences, include all unpaid extra-curricular activities and committees you have served on as volunteer experiences )
This page allows entries for each work, volunteer, or research experience. Complete the required fields and Save. The page will refresh to allow additional entries."

Absolutely

Avoid the term observership. You can write clinical experience.
I have an avoidance list in the book but that is the bottom line

Then please tell us what other title can we use that means the same thing as observership?

in observership, you don't work..you just observe
so, it comes under volunteer........

does make any difference eventually..? I mean you put under work or under volunteer..
PD will look into the matter and will come to know, it was an observership !!
I may be wrong...any input on this?

Other words that I like to use when doing CVs for my members:
Clinical rotation
Volunteer clinical experience

Many times I just use the position and describe your position as:
Volunteer/physician rather than observer

Check the International Medical Graduate's Best Hope book for more about the proper wording on CV
