a nucleotide sequence encoding a 4 AA near the amino terminus of a 10KD protein is 5'ACT GAT TGC GTT 3'.this sequence is mutated by insertion of A in the second codon and becomes 5'ACT GAA TTG CGT 3'.which of the following is a consequence of the mutation most likely?
A)altered cell cycle check point.
B)truncated protein
C)decreased rate of transcription
D)single aminoacid substitution.

IF IT IS TRUNCATED PROTIEN TNEN YOU SHOULD GET A STOP CODON

I agree with pryia...if on translation that specific codon becomes UAA then it would be truncated protein.
I think what has occured here is a point mutation where a purine is replacing a pyrimidine.......ie transversion type........so I will go with D...

here there is an insertion of an aa=mutation
it is not missence bcoz not subistution but addition of an aa
this is a frame shift mutation =produce a truncated pr ,plz refer to page 277 of biochemistry ,2002

its a frame shift mutation with the result being the production of a truncated protein.
