patient notes- bullet style. conflicting question? - adroits
#1
hi,
http://usmle.org/Examinations/step2/cs/c...ndixC.html

usmle sample notes-bullet style has the whole notes written without any abbreviated headings like: SH,PSH,PMH, etc,. Has any one tried this format with only the C/C, HPI and PMH and passed. Is it an area unexplored yet or perhaps too risky to try??

I used narrative and headings and I dont think it matters, every physician has their own way of writing a note, this exam is not to penalize people who use narrative over the people who dont, nor is it trying to tell you "YOU HAVE TO USE BULLETS TO BE A DOC IN US" As long as you mention pertinent negative and positives it doesnt matter what is the style
I know many people who have passed both ways just do what is natural for you

thanks drstethoscope. I appreciate your response.

But, is it implied that in bullet style, just like in the usmle sample notes, you can write your PN without any extra headings, but just with pertinent positives and negatives. I am trying to dig deep to prevent any misunderstanding??

Of course you can
As long you mention all relevant negative and positives you dont need headings
