68 year old man with h/o obstructive uropathy ( modarate enlarege BPH) . On urinalysis asymtomatic bacteriurea........ would u give an antiboit for this patient ??????????????

only pregnants, those undergoing genitiurinary procedures, renal stones, renal transplant pts
require trt for asympto bacteriuria

Ans- Yes.

Asymptomatic bactriuria require treatment in following conditions:
(a) Urinary tract Obstruction (functional or anatomic)
(b) Pregnancy

(d) Pre-school age children with vesicourethral reflux

WHOM TO TREAT
-0Pregnancy
-Urologic intervention in which mucosal bleeding is anticipated.

WHOM NOT TO TREAT
-Women (pre menopausal, non pregnant)
- Diabetic patients
-Spinal cord injury
-Indwelling urethral catheters
- Elderly in the community
-Elderly in health care facilities
