guys i am totally confused, all agencies require credit history, income info etc, but i am an IMG and dont have those things, so how can i rent an aprtment? especially in chicago

You need to talk with someone in person-manager of the building or agent in agency. If you matched hospital can write a letter how big your income will be. They are just making a drama to take more money for applications.

You just tell them that you are new in this country and you don't have any credit history (so no credit history is better than bad credit ),than you show them the contact (copy of it) and give them the deposit and you can get it-no problem.

How early should i arrive to do this,? I mean can i do this during one day? so to my understanding you have to be physically present in the city right?

You could ask residents currently in your program to give you a list of apartments they are living in. You could check them on the internet if they have websites.
You may be able to sign the lease using the fax. I will be looking for apts in Chicago too.. but I am already in the USA.
