J1 research with 2YHRR to J1 clinical while in US - fr22

lets say you match in march 2011 , then you fill the application of change of category from J1 reseach to J1 residency and send it to ECFMG in April 2011, and you get the approval from DOS in JUne 2011, then your new DS2019 form will be delivered to your program by July 1st 2011 then you are all set and you start your residency , no gap or 2 years of Home residency applies here if you get the approval from DOS .

Hi walktheline, I have another question, what if you are on research j1 VISA with 2yr hrr and that term ends in April. If you have matched in a J1 residency program can you go back to your home country for another j1 clinical to start the residency the same july?
