j1 visa at the port of entery - stephighn

I got j1 visa from my country but at the port of entery visa officer issued me b2 visa instead of j1 .I think they just saw my previous b1b2 visa page on passport and issued me b2 without asking me anything.Now after 2 days i just saw it on my I -94 where they stamped b2 visa.

Does anyone know what should be done in this case ?should i contact ecfmg or us consulate directly?

Just go back to the point of entry (at the airport). They will rectify it with lots of apology. U don't need to contact the US consulate or ecfmg. It's the CBP officer that can correct it. Best of luck.

Other mistakes like wrong length of stay have been made in the past and they usually rectify them with apology. It will be rectified without any problem. So nothing to worry about.

so will they allow me to approach CBP officer at the airport ? can i go on sunday ?
