Hi, Can anyone please explain how to decide when to go for amputation or debridement.... like frost bite...gangrene dry/wet.....what is the concept?

For diabetes!!!!

Ulcer you have to give antibiotics and also have to do debridement if there is any damaged tissue or infected tissue....

About amputation this is basically a surgery ppl question but what I know is that

1- If infection is severe and not getting cured with broad spectrum antibiotics
2- there is no blood supply to the affteted limb or part of limb and there is gangrene of the tissue that you have to do amputation.
3- Now there are many options like above knee , above ankle or below knee depending upon the patient's limb conditoon.

Now to answer your queries. This is basically a clinical judgemental question. You see patient condition and then you decide. ON exam they may give you picture of diabetic foot and if you see black area that will represent area of gangrene. of they bay describe the gangrene on the question step.
