will it cross the placenta if we give it to a pregnant ........> damage to the feotus ,or it is modified somehow so it doesnt cross. plz explain thanks in advance

I think it can cross placenta but
the "Dosage of Rhogam is Adjusted" according to the amount of Fetal blood made it to mother circulation........so the dose is just enough and get consumed to take care of Fetal R.B.Cs which are present in Mother circulation.

RhoGam given to unsensitized Rh neg. motherw/in 72 hrs. after delivery and effective up to 3-4 weeks after delivery.

Also given after abortion of Rh + fetus to prevent sensitization.

Test: Direct Coomb's test done on cord blood after delivery.

Recommended: RhoGAM at 26-28 weeks gestation period bec. it is ineffective against RH pos. Abs already present in maternal circulation.
