you must have j1 visa ? - strivinghard

what does that mean ?i'm on h4 now does that mean i'm not eligible for applying these programs? their program website says that you must have j1 visa we don't sponsor h1 visas.

There is no problem in applying being in H4 visa. But, if you are offered residency in that program, you will have to get J1 visa through ECFMG.

Hope this clarifies your confusion.

J1 visa is sponsored by ECFMG, talk to them about the conversion from your H4 status to J1 status. Programs will allow clinical residency as long as visa is sponsored by ECFMG.

As you know you can't work on H4 so you need to get a J1 before starting residency..
