To Sarim...Benzodiazepine long-effect - maryam2009
#1
Hi there,
regarding the long term effect of Benzodiazepine : choices
D-depressed mood
E-increased sleep latency

I think both choices are correct, please confirm the answer.

Thank you Smile

A serious long-term effect of benzodiazepines is depression, Depression can affect sleep, appetite and interest in activities. If the depression caused by benzodiazepines becomes severe, users may start having suicidal thoughts.

Hi maryam

source of that Q is kaplan and they didn't explain why it is not the option of depressed mood.

- I would say they might be referring specifically to short acting drugs that are used for Insomnia.......where the development of Tolerance is fast (within few wks) and there for upon prolonged use pt would suffer "rebound Insomnia"(paradoxical effect)
