j1 for obervership - bandar666

hello all,

i ahd applied for observership in a university it got accepted and now i am doing the paperwork,
they are asking me if they should send me a j1 visa application??

what should i do?

should i ask them to send it or should i apply for b1/b2 for my cs exam??

please help!!

I guess you mean F1 not J1. Either way, go on a B1/B2. It's better for you.

If your plan is to stay in the US in the future DO NOT do a J1, because that will ban you from even trying to get an H1B for residency. As Researches says, they could sponsor an F visa since you are a "student" and coming for an observership, not for work. Alternatively you can do B1/B2 and then you have six months to stay legally in the country.

I think it doesnt matter whether J1 or h1 in residency as long as you get residency coz getting matched is gettin difficult. I would advise ask the university if they will let you do observership on b1/b2 go for it. if they say j1 coz some university are very strict then do as advised. otherwise best is comin in b1/b2, dont mention observership in interview jus tell them you are for cs and will come back after that.
