hello people..

i did not match this year despite 5 ivs and decent creds

n now my lack of confidence is propelling me to apply to not so competitive fields like FM and psych..

the problem is my CV shouts "internal medicine" with a year of research in cardio + obsies + electives

but i really want to apply to a few family med and psych programs.. will doing an obsie in fm or psych and getting letters help?

Do you have any idea why you didn't match despite having 5 interviews in IM? From that fact alone I can surmise that your CV is competitive.

Getting an LOR from an FM will definitely help. Even with just your cardio/IM USCE, you can still spin that in your personal statement/interview that even FM doctors need knowledge in those fields in preparation for a career in Primary Care.

For Psych though, I feel that you would indeed need to get an obsie in Psych because they might think you are just using them as a back-up plan and not really interested.
