hi,
iam from NZ. i took my step 2 exam on dec 17, 2003. today i checked OASIS and saw my score had been reported. i had heard of trick on IWA from another forum and decieded to try it. i tried to apply for USMLE step 2 on IWA on the ecfmg web site and was stopped with this message:
Our records indicate that you have already passed this Step or the equivalent NBME® Part. The USMLE Policy on Reexamination generally does not allow applicants to retake a Step examination if they have already passed that Step or the equivalent NBME Part. There are, however, certain exceptions to this policy:
Exception #1: Applicants pursuing an H-1B visa who have passed NBME Part I and/or Part II may take the equivalent Step(s) to meet the examination requirements for this visa.
Exception #2: Applicants who have already passed a Step examination or the equivalent NBME Part may retake that Step if they need to comply with a time limit for completion of all Steps or a requirement imposed by another licensing authority recognized by the USMLE program for this purpose.
Exception #3: Applicants who have passed all or a portion of the NBME certifying examinations, Part I, Part II, and Part III, and the Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX) Components 1 and 2 and have never been granted a medical license by a U.S. medical licensing authority, may take any Step(s) for which they are otherwise eligible.
Exception #4: For purposes of ECFMG certification, applicants who have already passed a Step examination (or the equivalent NBME Part) may retake that Step if they did not pass the other Step within seven years.
If you still wish to apply for this exam based on one of the reexamination exceptions outlined above, you cannot reapply on-line. For Exceptions #1, #2 and #3, you must submit documentation supporting this exception with a paper exam application. Click here for complete instructions and a list of appropriate documentation. You can download and print the USMLE application materials from the ECFMG website. Alternatively, you can contact ECFMG for these materials (allow four to six weeks for delivery).
SO the web site actually tells wether you passed or not. i tried applying for step 1 which i had passed earlier and same message appears. i tried step 2 CS nad you are allowed to proceed. if it 's true, i passed. ALL PRAISE TO ALLMIGHTY GOD !
