ecfmg certificate - drsam

Hello,
Can anyone plz guide me as to if ecfmg certificate has to be obtained before the match in order to participate in the match?
Can one apply/register for the match with only step1 & 2 ck scores (suppose by december06)& later ( in jan07) give cs & still be eligible for 07match?

Drsam , if u found out what u were looking for , pls let me know cause I'm wondering about the same thing !
I know for sure that the certificate must be obtained before the Match ! What i don't know is whether or not you have any chances to get called for interviews when u can only submit a Step 1 score ... and then tell them in person your score for Step 2 when u go for the interview ...
