What's clinical scientist and L of chairperson? - tarsan

hi,

what is clinical scientist? is it physician?

what is letter from chairperson? is it dean's letter?

clinical scientist may be a physician or he/she could be a Master's Degree/Ph.D... the chairperson is someone who is the head of a department (IM, neurology, etc.)... the dean is the person in charge of the entire medical school and/or graduate medical education (residency programs)...

Just to add to rasalghul, one who takes physician scientist training pathway in residency also qualifies as clinical scientist.

Physician scientist pathway differs from conventional pathway in the sense that you do 1 year of intership and then join the subspeciality right away. It is a total of 5 years. Of the places I know, you may either enroll in the 1st year or in the second year of residency. You have to talk about your interest in the pathway during the interview for 1st year position.
