Moonlighting and visa type - nilin

IS it true that you cannot moonlight with J1 visa?
Hospitals told me otherwise.
anyone has any idea?

You can't moonlight with J1

However some programs have an in-house system that can favor J1 holders that want to moonlight

I don't know . When I was in residency, it was such a demanding schedule, that nobody felt like moonlighting at all. Is extra money of course, but in the very limited Free time that you have , "sleeping a whole night" or a "Complete weekend" is priceless

J1 is sponsored by ECFMG for the sole purpose of RESIDENCY TRAINING.

You are NOT allowed to do any other work on it, even clinical moonlighting. You cannot even get NIH grants in your name if u plan to do research and write a grant with u as Investigators.
Even if the hospital tells, you so, you wont be able to do it coz of ur J1 visa. If you do it, there are chances u can jeopardize ur J1 visa.

Some program allow you to do internal moonlight on J one but not external.
With H one you can do moonlight for sure.
