Hospital interpreting - tundri
#1
I've asked this before, but new people register and I can get more insight on this issue. I work for a hospital as an interpreter. In my opinion wayyyy more than the exposure I had as an observer- which I did in 2013. I graduated in 2010 and have been doing interpreting while preparing and taking the exams. Had a few financial issues which forced me to work. Step scores are average in the 230s.

How hard will it be to secure interviews. Only 1m observership; 6 month hospital interpreting; 7 years+ medical interpreting (over the phone).

NY state is not easy to obtain externship or shadow positions....except for maybe NYC. So, I'm stuck.

Help. Thanks.

The interpreting will not impact on your residency.

Apply broadly and hope for the best. Nobody can really predict how many interviews you will get. If this is your first time applying then I think you should be positive. If this is the 2nd or more...then the truth is that you probably know that without any significant change to your application....it is tricky
