14 month female, poor appetite, fever and cough. born at term, no previous history, immunizations up to date. low grade fever, copious clear rhinorrhea, mild tachypenea with bilateral wheeze, pulse ox 90%. no signs of dehydration. cxar negative for pna. lab positive for nasopharyngeal rapid diagnostic assay. the most appropriate treatment for this patient is
1. amoxicillin
2. methyprednisolone
3. oxygen
4. palivizumab
5. watchful waiting

this is likely viral due to influenza
antiviral like oseltamavir (against influ a and b) can be given within 48hours, now too late so supportive
nasopharyngeal rapid diagnostic assay can be used to determine viral etiology of influ
