this is from the kaplan notes
i seem a little confused about the answers

so you please solve them

PFT INDICES PATIENT 1 PATIENT 2
TLC 87 % 55%
RV 120% 50%
VC 90% 50%
FEV1/FVC 80% 90%
FEF 50% 90%
DLCO PATIENT 1A-90% PATIENT 2A-90%
1B--40% 2B --40%

WHAT IS THE DIAGNOSIS

I FEEL PATIENT 1A IS ASTHMA

1B IS EMPHYSEMA

I shall try if you dont mind.
Patient 1 has obstructive lung disease. 1 A is asthma since DLCO has not changed. B is emphysema since the DLCO is decreased.
Pateient 2 has restrictive lung disease since volumes are dicreased and FEV1/FVC is near normal. Ususally interstitial lung disorders have decreased DLCO, therefor 2B has pneumoconiosis etc. I am not sure of 2A.
