q11 - luckyalways

Promoters of housekeeping genes contain variable numbers of GC boxes, but neither TATA nor CCAAT boxes. These properties of housekeeping promoters

make them targets for methylation and gene silencing.

cause them to be transcribed into a single pre-mRNA per gene.

enable them to be expressed at very high levels.

cause their expression to be limited to one or a few tissues.

limit their expression to specific developmental stages (embryonic, fetal, adult).
