Someone ask about the SE of acetazolamide especially about the effect on calcium...
today I read it and I figured out as
Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor ...


CO2 + H2O>>>>>>>>> H2CO3
when this reaction is not proceeded forward , CO2 accumulate and causes metabolic acidosis. and we know that in metabolic acidosis their is Hypercalcemia.......
so ACetazolamide causes Hypercalcemia and renal stones...
