Is it ok to apply to both categ and prelim positions at the same program?
or is it an issue while ranking the program later?

Some program will call you to make a choice between the two if you do so. But some don't. But yeah, wouldn't it be a problem of ranking?

As far as I know there is no problem applying both cat and Prelim.
This way some progs will callyou offering interview for a Cat position or Preliminary pos considering their selection criteria.
I did applied both and had 2 calls for cat and 3 for prelim positions.

How do you know it is for preliminary or cat.?

All invitations only say that you are invited for interview. Not specified pre. or cat.

thats the dilemma. so one wouldn't know what to expect in the interview if asked why would you apply to both positions or if during the interview you find out that it was only for prelim.

hey deepu,its a good idea to apply in both in good uni programs bc they r competitive,on the other hand u can apply to categorical in community hospital...that wat i did...and just relax u will get a nice spot.. good luck ,always ur well wisher.
