When is the best time to ask/discuss - aphrodite

about which visa the programs would/wouldnt like to sponsor/accept? and how do you go about it?

Before going to IV, I always had got this information from PC.
Even if U know that the program sponsors both J1 and H1, and if PD asks abt visa preferance from U.....its always good to reply in this way (in case if U would like to go for H1):
"Dr.____, my 1st priority is to work in your program regardless of type of visa(j1/H1)...but if given choice, preferably I would like to choose H1"(say this only if U are sure that step 3 score will be available on time).
If PD doesnt volunteer to ask Visa Q. then its good to touch this issue yourself in a careful way......one way could be;
"Dr._____, at this point I would like to tell U that your program is at my top priority and I feel very enthusiastic to join it regardless of type of visa U give."...then most probably he will talk about visa issue himself.

Usually, its easy to judge when the IV coming to an end.
