Bipolar disorder is divieded into 2 subtypes:
1) Bipolar I disorder- a history of at least one manic episode, with or without past major depressive episodes.
2) Bipolar II disorder- a history of at least one episode of major depression and at least one hypomanic episode.

hypomanic=light manic, like max out all the credit cards? Hope this helps.
