A decrease in pH shifts the oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve to the right, thus at any given PO2 the hemoglobin will have less oxygen attached compared to normal. THis facilitates the transport of oxygen to the tissue because once blood enters the tissues (other then lung) it is in an environment with a lower pH. Lower pH, High temp, High H+, High CO2, and increased 2,3 BPG shift the curve to the right and facilitate off loading of Oxygen
