research or observership? - sc98

research volunteer in immunology in a university(fulltime)
OR observership in a nearby hospital to be in touch with patient care,
please advise ,which one of this is gud for residency ?

Well, your prime objectives are:
1. To get some EXCELLENT LoR's
2. Make Connections
3. Have fun doing it

You should ask yourself which of the choices will satisfy the objectives. Also, you must ask yourself which of the two will be cost and time effective. If you're going to have to drive one hour just to get there, then it's going to be expensive and time consuming.

Also, take into consideration which will offer you offer you flexibility...once interview season starts, you'll need to have huge gaps in your work schedule so that you can go off on your interviews.

Also, the research may be good for you if you are planning on attending a Uni-based programs. Furthermore, if topic you are researching has something to do with your future career plans, then the research may be for you. Finally, if you decide to pursue the research avenue, then you maybe able to set some time aside and volunteer in the hospital ...
