The RA treatment is NSAIDs to stop the inflamatory process and early disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARD) are used to stop the joint damage, actually the new tendency is use 2 of them.

I agree with malak, if no erosion from xray result, no need MTX, NSAIDs are good enough for initial uncomplicated RA, if BMI is high, I would add weight reduction, and physical rehab
